Position: Temporary, Part-time Canvasser
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
San Francisco Women Against Rape (SFWAR) is a 30 year old rape crisis serving over 12,000 survivors a year. We work against sexual assault in two ways: by providing support to survivors of rape and sexual assault, their families and friends, and by using education and community organizing as tools of prevention. Canvassers are temporary employees of SFWAR, supervised by the Canvass Coordinator.
Position: Temporary, Part-time Canvasser
Responsibilities
- Solicit door-to-door donations from supporters and strangers of SFWAR.
- Complete all necessary paperwork, track progress of the canvass and prepare pledge cards to be mailed.
- Conduct all interactions at the door and in the office in a professional and courteous manner.
- Make notes of any donor concerns or comments on the sheets provided. Ensure that the Canvass Coordinator is informed of any problems.
- Keep confidential all new donor information.
- Maintain punctual attendance during period of employment. Contact Canvass Coordinator if you will be absent or late for a shift.
- Previous fundraising experience, preferably canvass fundraising, is preferred.
- Familiarity with the issue of sexual assault and sexual violence.
- Clear communication skills. Good in-person manner and ability to interact well with other people. Bilingual applicants encouraged to apply.
- Commitment to canvass on dates and times of canvass. (can be flexible on scheduling)
- Ability to complete paperwork and handle confidential credit information.
Pay: $12.00 per hour + commission
Canvass 2010 Schedule TBD
Total Hours: Up to 88
Days worked a week are flexible. Canvassers can choose to work two-four days a week depending on their schedules.
