We currently have these internships available:
Crisis Hotline and Volunteer Program Internship:
- Update curriculum used in training (as needed)
- Update referral guide used by staff and volunteers
- Volunteer Program Outreach and Recruitment
- Present curriculum in training (as needed)
- Prepare hotline/advocacy data for quarterly funding reports
- Assist with hotline and medical scheduling.
- Other projects as needed.
Due to the handling of confidental information, this position is open to certified volunteers only. All tasks are with help from and in coordination with the Director of Volunteers and the appropriate committees and volunteers.
Special Event Internship:
Interns will work on major upcoming SFWAR Events which include Dine for a Change and Walk Against Rape.
Position Overview
- Internship will be for four to six months with the Development Team
- Internship will require 10-30 hours per week- depending on availability of the intern
- Hours are flexible and there is a possibility to work nights and weekends
- Interns will be working in teams- one team for each event
- Great opportunity for individuals who are looking to get professionally involved with the non profit world AND for those who seek community service hours!
Duties
- Event organizing: recruiting restaurants, soliciting for financial or in-kind donations, coordinating volunteers, executing publicity and marketing campaigns, volunteer and participant outreach, coordinating speakers/performers, etc.
- Day-of activities: Walk Against Rape will be on April 24, 2010 and Dine for a Change will be each Thursday from April 29th-May 20th, 2010
- Post-event follow up: thank you notes, phone calls, database upkeep and entry
All tasks are with the help from and in coordination with the Development Department and appropriate staff/committees/volunteers
Qualifications: Experience with and/or ability to: work well independently and within a team; complete basic office administrative tasks; be flexible; communicate well; be comfortable (or willing to learn) talking on the phone/speaking face to face with strangers; learn and support others in developing a radical political analysis as the foundation for anti-violence, anti-oppression, social justice work; participate in ongoing personal, interpersonal and institutional anti-oppression work.
Stipends: Unfortunately, we do not have funding to provide stipends at this time.
