Rape is not a laughing matter; but humor becomes a powerful tool in fighting sexual assault at She Who Laughs Lasts!

Join us for a lighthearted evening of laughter with four hilarious comedians and a special video screening, courtesy of QWOCMAP, on Friday, October 21, 2011 at the beautiful Brava Theatre!

Conveniently accessed by bus and Bart, doors open at 7:00pm and the show starts at 8:00pm.

Make sure to get there early for appetizers and photo-ops with commedians! And, don't miss the silent auction which includes exciting activities like indoor sky diving, wine county bike tours, and Dinner for 2 hosted by SFWAR & comedian D'lo!!!

This event is a benefit for San Francisco Woman Against Rape. SFWAR provides support to survivors of rape and sexual assault while using community organizing and education to end sexual violence.

Micia Mosely

Brooklyn-based comedian, actress and educator, Micia Mosely is a founding artist with Nursha Project; a group committed to supporting artists and projects rooted in socio-political offerings. Since earning her Ph.D. in education from U.C. Berkeley, Micia has shared her comedic performance in cities all over the United States including, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Boston, Washington D.C. and Honolulu. In 2009, her one woman show "Where My Girls At?" was nominated for a New York Innovative Theater Award for best solo performance. Currently, she is an educational and comedic-speaker with The Lecture Bureau (www.thelecturebureau.com). Micia is thrilled to be a regular donor to SFWAR and to return to She Who Laughs Lasts.


D'Lo

D'Lo is a queer Tamil Sri L.A.nkan-American, political theatre artist/writer, director, comedian and music producer. D'Lo has performed and/or facilitated performance and writing workshops extensively (US, Canada, UK, Germany, Sri Lanka and India), having recently held workshops in LA with SATRANG and as a teaching artist with Teada Productions Theater Company. D'Lo's work has been published in various anthologies and academic journals, most recently: Desi Rap: Hip Hop and South Asia America and Experiments in a Jazz Aesthetic (co-edited by Sharon Bridgforth). D'Lo holds a BA from UCLA in Ethnomusicology and is a graduate of New York's School of Audio Engineering (SAE).

Aside from touring the university/college circuit with D'FaQTo Life (pronounced defacto), D'Lo tours Ramble-Ations: A One D'Lo Show (dir. Adelina Anthony) which received the NPN Creation Fund Grant inclusive of residencies in 8 US cities and additional support from the Durfee Foundation Grant. Ramble-Ations has now had runs at New World Theater (Amherst), Pangea World Theater (Minneapolis), The Flea Theater as part of the National Asian American Theater Festival (New York) and Painted Bride (Philadelphia), Highways Performance Space (Los Angeles), Ashe Cultural Center (New Orleans), Brava Theater (San Francisco), Miles Playhouse (Teada/Sant Monica) and here at MACLA.

Last year, D'Lo participated in the Asia Pacific Performance Exchange (APPEX) - an international three-week intensive residency in Bali with a particular focus on American and Asian artists through UCLA's Center for Intercultural Performance.

Karinda Dobbins

Hailing from the Motor City and now living in the Bay Area, Karinda's humor is sharp, distinctive and infused with hilarious social commentary. A proud associate of Jabari Davis & Associates and mentored by the legendary Tony Sparks, Karinda has appeared in L.A. and at dozens of venues throughout the SF Bay including The Purple Onion, Harvey's and The Marsh. Karinda is a breakthrough talent with an unconventional perspective and colorful wit that engages and pulls you into her aggressively laid-back comedic style.

Nina G

Nina G is the world's funniest female comedian who stutters (or at least until she finds another one). She is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and performs at comedy clubs and events including the San Francisco Punchline, Hollywood Improv, and Laugh Factory. She blends a combination of humor, activism, and education about the experience of people with disabilities. She also performs with the Comedians with Disabilities Act, a comedy troupe who challenges abelism through humor.
