San Francisco Women Against Rape provides a Sexual Assault Counselor State Certified Training three times a year. This training is for volunteers who are interested in directly providing services to survivors of sexual assault.

The training lasts approximately 8 weeks, on two weekday evenings Tuesday & Thursday 5:30-9pm and Saturdays 9:30am-5:30pm.

We have an application and interview screening process for all prospective volunteers.

We accept applications year round.

Women of Color* belonging to any of the communities listed below are strongly encouraged to apply.

 Trans and/or Queer
 Young women who are 20 years old or younger (if you are under 18, we will need guardian/parental consent for your application)
 Latina immigrants
 Marginally housed, formally homeless
 Formally Incarcerated
 Elder women
 Bilingual/bicultural speakers of needed languages other than English (stipend provided)

The term Women of Color refers to women who self-identify as: Black/African American/African Descent, Latina/Chicana, Native American/Indigenous/First Nations, South Asian/East Asian/West Asian/Pacific Islander or Mixed-Race. SFWAR's understanding of "woman/women" is based on self-identification. SFWAR supports and prioritizes the leadership of transgender, gender variant, intersex and gender non-conforming people. Experience with and/or ability to: work well independently and within a team; complete basic office administrative tasks; be flexible; communicate well; learn and support others in developing a radical political analysis as the foundation for anti-violence, anti-oppression, social justice work; participate in on-going personal, interpersonal and institutional anti-oppression work.
